The Government has announced it will not cap parish council budgets in 2020-21, but says it remains concerned 'about the pressure placed on taxpayers from thousands of town and parish councils across England and expects them to exercise even greater restraint'.

In 1974, Weston-super-Mare Borough Council was abolished as part of local government reorganisation; but it was refounded as Weston Town Council at the time of the Milennium to continue its role of providing services to this large seaside resort.

Do young children understand history? In my experience, most certainly they do! In September 2019, I made a return visit to Kibworth CE Primary School to talk to Year 2s about the history of Kibworth, using images, past and present, to show them how the buildings they walk past and visit every week have changed over time.

As a Parish Council consultant I hear, sadly far too often, of councillors who find it difficult to work together or with their officers. Sometimes, if all parties are willing to respect each other's opinions, issues can be resolved, but occasionally it may mean a brand-new start.

A controversial planning application can cause concern and even anger from those who feel they will be affected, but sometimes, when all sides are willing to co-operate, there can be a positive outcome for all concerned.

The Billesdon & Rolleston Joint Burials Committee sometimes removes unwanted 'gifts' from Billesdon cemetery, mainly litter, but councillors were surprised and delighted when a wrought-iron seat suddenly appeared.

Twenty-first century technology, as used by Channel 4's 'Time Team', has been helping a community discover how their village cemetery was laid out over a century ago.
