I am not sure where I found this, but it is in my bookcase. Published by Alf Cooke in Leeds in 1902. Monsieur Alfonse offers facts about digestion and indigestion and 'a few odd hints' as well as some fascinatng recipes. On Page 81 is a recipe for 'Old Birds'.
The ingredients include 'an old bird' plus butter, cream, bacon, gravy and flour. Sounds rather fowl to me.
