The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) is calling on local (parish and town) councils to get involved with the Great British Spring Clean 2020.
The event will take place from 20 March to 13 April and aims to build on last year's success when more than 560,000 volunteers took part. This year's target is to recruit one million litter pickers.
While the main aim is to clean up our streets and open spaces, the campaign provides an opportunity for local councils to bring the community together, help health and social wellbeing, and improve the environment.
Cllr Sue Baxter, chairman of NALC, said: 'This campaign is a great opportunity for local councils to get communities together. Keep Britain Tidy wants to inspire everyone to be aware of their surroundings and with the simplest of actions to help transform our environment for the better. by creating cleaner streets, parks and beaches, protecting our wildlife and, ultimately, stopping the tide of plastic which is doing so much harm.'
